Maki Aizawa is a multifaceted artist and producer with a passion for Japan, her native land. She grew up in Sendai, in the north of Japan, and from her earliest years was immersed in the traditions of Japanese arts and culture. Her parents ran a kimono-making school and she remembers a childhood with hundreds of “aunties” –- the students who were living with them during their five-year apprenticeships to become licensed. Josquin Research Project...

The goal of the Josquin Research Project is to facilitate a new kind of knowing that brings “big data” into conversation with traditional analytical methods — a new way to engage with Renaissance music. For the first time this music is fully searchable: in a few clicks you can identify every instance of a given melodic and/or rhythmic pattern. The JRP also provides analytical tools that can be used to gain insight into individual works, the style of a given composer, or the musical lingua franca. PerfomSites developer Ari Salomon worked with designer Jenny Martinez  to implement a minimalistic design that recalls the quiet introspection of some of the music archived by JRP. Clarion Alley Mural Project...

The Mission of CAMP is to support and produce socially engaged and aesthetically diverse public art as a grassroots community-based, artist-run organization based in San Francisco. Since 1992 this humble alley has hosted  PerfomSites developer Ari Salomon worked with the CAMP volunteers to implement a simple design with a powerful search engine that allows searching, sorting and browsing of 100s of current and past murals. the “Murals” custom content type makes it easy for staff to manage their content and slowly build up their archive of decades of artwork.     Visit live...

Roxie

Started in 1909, The Roxie is the oldest continuously operated cinema in the United States, and the second oldest in the world. Since 2009 The Roxie has become a non-profit with a Mission to provide diverse audiences with rare, independent, experimental, and socially conscious film & arts programming in an accessible and inspiring environment. Ari Salomon of PerformSites rebuilt the Roxie site to be a fully integrated event platform where movies are dynamically displayed based on showtimes. San Jose Theaters

San Jose Theaters is a project of Team San Jose, a non-profit operations and management company who manages and operates city-owned performing arts venues. San Jose Theaters is responsible for the Montgomery Theater, California Theatre, the San Jose Civic and the Center for the Performing Arts, all located in the heart of downtown San Jose. San Jose Theaters approached Ari Salomon to redesign their site to make it easier to update and promote their ongoing stream of events. Their old site was hard to update and offered few options for the public to view and sort the many events at their 4 venues. The new site allows for sorting and subscribing to events via a variety of criteria and also lets management respond quickly to schedule changes as well as actively promote their rental...

AMY X NEUBURG (Oakland, California) has been developing her own brand of irreverently genre-crossing works for voice, live electronics and chamber ensembles for over 25 years, known for her innovative use of live looping technology with electronic percussion, her 4-octave vocal range and her colorful — often humorous — lyrics. The FOR-SITE Foundation is dedicated to the idea that art can inspire fresh thinking and important dialogue about our natural and cultural environment. Through exhibitions, commissions, artist residencies, and education programs, FOR-SITE supports the creation and presentation of innovative art about place. Recent high profile projects include Andy Goldsworthy in the Presidio and International Orange at Fort Point. The site was a team collaboration with Ari Salomon leading development. The connection between current and past projects and the display of “parent” and “child” projects required a deep investigation and reworking of how the organization presents its core projects. Interconnected artists, projects and news items make for a smooth way to navigate deep content.
